PRE-INSTALLATION CHECKLIST

In order to ensure that the installation of your new flooring goes as smoothly as possible, we have included a few helpful tips to help our customers prepare their home:

  • Remove all breakable & irreplaceable items

  • Remove pictures, clocks & other hanging items from walls

  • Clear closet floors & low hanging clothes if new flooring is to be installed in these areas

  • Remove all small objects from floor (toys, shoes, etc.)

  • If you have contracted to have furniture moved by our installers, please remove all items from furniture (e.g., picture frames, knick knacks, etc.), all bedding & linens, books from bookcases, etc.

  • Disconnecting & reconnecting electronics is the responsibility of the homeowner

  • Separate arrangements may need to be made by homeowner to move extra large items such as pianos, pool tables, & aquariums

  • Please keep children & pets away from the installation area

Please note that while we make every effort to avoid scratching or chipping paint on walls, baseboards, etc., some light touch up may be necessary after the installation has been completed.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

We recommend that customers check the guidelines established by the manufacturer for specific details on the care & maintenance of their flooring. However, we have compiled a general list of best practices to help maintain the beauty & life of your floor.

Carpet

  • Vacuum regularly to remove loose dirt or debris & to prevent soil from becoming embedded in the carpet.

  • Clean spots & spills quickly with approved cleaning products. As a general rule, blot liquids with a dry, white, absorbent cloth - never scrub the area!

  • Place rugs & mats at all entry doorways.

  • Use scissors to clip sprouts and snags. Don’t pull on them—you might damage the carpet.

It may be necessary to use protective window coverings in areas with high exposure to sunlight in order to minimize fading of your carpet.

Hard Surface

  • Only use cleaning products that are approved for your flooring type. The use of non-approved cleaning products may damage the finish on your floor & void your warranty.

  • Sweep or vacuum regularly to remove loose dirt or debris that can scratch the floor.

  • To minimize scratching & indentations, equip tables, chairs & other furniture with proper floor protectors.

  • Never slide heavy furniture or appliances across the floor. Place plywood on the floor & move the object across the plywood.

  • Place rugs & mats at all entry doorways & in high-traffic pathways.

  • Never wet mop or damp mop hardwood & laminate floors. Excessive water will cause cupping, swelling & gapping of your floor & will void your warranty.

  • Do not walk on hardwood with high heels, cleats, sport shoes, etc., as this will cause scratching & denting. Also, keep nails trimmed on all pets to minimize scratching your floor.

  • It may be necessary to use protective window coverings in areas with high exposure to sunlight in order to minimize fading of your floor.

  • The approved use of steam mops will vary according to manufacturer. Please check their website directly or contact a sales associate to determine if the use of a steam mop is approved for your floor.
